In May 2014 Repairmyhome were contracted to do a full house renovation of a house on Agnes Road, Dublin.
The house was built in the 1940’s, had been empty for five years and in desperate need of house renovations. Every room was in poor condition and in need of renovation work so we sat down with the new home owners talked through the job and made some plans and visualisations. When our clients where happy we set to work.
First of all we stripped the house bare, completely removed all the old plaster work , plumbing, electrics and removed any rotten timbers. We knocked down the wall between kitchen and dining room and put in steel supports to make a spacious living area.
We then set about rebuilding the house, starting with a replumb which included new water tanks, a storage heater, bathroom, bunk beds, kitchen and an A-Rated combi condenser boiler; a heating system that can send hot water straight to the taps. Our team then done a full house rewire with all the latest mod cons.
Then the insulation was started; we removed all the timber flooring and fitted 200mm kingspan boards in all the internal walls, then fitted battens and 92.5mm insulated plaster board with a plaster skin smooth finish. To support the use of this new insulation, repairmyhome fitted A-rated windows to further minimise heat loss.
We fitted new laminating flooring throughout the downstairs of the home, and installed new doors internally and externally, and we also plastered the rest of the home’s exterior to prevent moister soaking through the walls.
After renovating the structure of the house we proceeded to update the rooms. We installed a modern kitchen to the clients own design, which was custom-made in our factory. We tiled and installed brand new bathrooms.
However, after such a modern update, our client wanted some feel and style of the original house, so in the main living areas we replicated the original coving and picture rails to match the original and restored the old fire places rather than use new ones. It was a difficult and time consuming job but the client felt that maintaining the style of the house was important and gave an enriched contrast to the modern setting of other rooms in the house such as the kitchen and bathrooms.
Repairmyhome completed the renovations in July, 2014.
